WA Treasurer and Energy Minister Ben Wyatt’s announcement that the average energy bill will increase by around $120.50 per household, has been a major shock to industry experts who expected costs to rise but only by a maximum of 3 per cent.
These changes show that the typical annual household energy bill will rise from an average of $1722 to around $1850 per year.
Over the next couple of years, an estimated 6.3% rise in energy bills are further predicted but following the a rise of 4% more than what was predicted we can’t be certain of how much more WA energy bills will rise. Source: www.smh.com.au.
The majority of WA residents will likely be cursing at the government for the drastic rise in already high energy costs, but around 30 per cent of you who have taken the chance to invest in renewable solar energy will not be flustered by the news.
Solar owners across the state will not only be reaping the rewards of installing a solar system, but will now be saving an extra 7 per cent more than what they were originally paying to energy.
Synergy announced around 12 months ago the average household power bill would be almost double the rate it was then, and it seems to show that they were telling the truth. The further increase in power bills reveal that Western Australian home owners will not be gratified with a price cut any time soon but should expect to continue paying ludicrous rates for electricity until something is done to solve the energy crisis.
What should you do to cut down your energy bills?
As you may have read in ‘10 reasons why solar is the solution for you’ or ‘5 ways you can cut down your energy usage’, the best way for you to cut down your energy bills right now is to install a solar energy system.
With the costs of solar energy being drastically reduced over the past decade coinciding with solar panel technology drastically improving, it’s not a surprise Western Australia is now at record high rate for statewide installations.
